Wild Game Scores – week of 2/26/17

Here are the game scores for the Minnesota Wild contests for the week of 2/26/17. As always, these scores are courtesy of Derek, @Stateofstats, who pulls the data from Corsica.hockey.

Monday, February 27 vs Los Angeles

It was a crazy game against the Kings, and Minnesota looked a little sluggish coming off their bye week, plus the surprise loss of Parise and Pominville to mumps. But, credit the team for coming back to tie the game four times, and then Granlund’s OT winner was just a thing of beauty. Dubnyk had an uncharacteristically bad game, perhaps due to the time off. Hanzal did not affect the game much, but Ryan White tallied a GS of 1.18 while playing less than ten minutes. The fans love him but I gotta be honest, I think this will be the last time White cracks the top-three in game score this year. He benefited from playing alongside Staal and Nino, but don’t expect this kind of goal scoring to continue.

Tuesday, February 28 at Winnipeg

Minnesota had two separate three-goal leads in this game and still managed to let the Jets tie the game. While it’s never quite fair to hang it all on the goalie, Kuemper let in some characteristic bad goals (plus had some bad luck with that weird bounce.) The Staal-Coyle pair continues to struggle, and Granlund continues to impress–he’s now in the top-10 in NHL scoring, and headed for a HUMONGOUS BIG payday this offseason. Hanzal dented the score sheet for the first time in a Wild sweater, and Scandella pitched in a goal for the first time in a while.
