Wild Game Scores – week of 1/29/17

Here are the game scores for the Minnesota Wild contests for the week of 1/22/17. As always, these scores are courtesy of Derek, @Stateofstats, who pulls the data from Corsica.hockey.

The Wild mopped the floor with the Oilers, which erased any doubt of a post-ASG sluggish start. Darcy Kuemper had a great game, turning away 39 shots in a game where the Wild controlled the scoring but gave up a ton of shots. Tyler Graovac had his first 2-goal game, and Jason Pominville continued his hot streak. Zach Parise scored a vintage Parise goal, and it’s looking like he might be finally getting out of his personal slump. Dumba and Scandella got pummeled in the possession game, and Staal and Coyle are among the bottom forwards. That pair is really struggling lately, and it seems like Boudreau might have to shake up the lines a bit.

The Flames were fired up in this game, probably because they wanted to get back at the Wild for breaking Johnny Gaudreau’s finger and sidelining him for a couple of weeks earlier in the season. The Flames jumped out in front of Minnesota with two first-period goals, and while the Wild seemed to be gaining momentum in the second, the wheels completely fell off the bus in the third. Mikael Granlund extended his amazing point streak to 11 games, and the Suter/Spurgeon combo absolutely dominated the possession game. Most of the team had negative game scores, just by nature of how the contest went, but Coyle in particular is just struggling right now. Boudreau demoted him down the roster, and hinted that Alex Tuch might get a call-up. Obviously, Coyle won’t be sent down to the minors, but one wonders what Boudreau has in mind to get him back on his game. Mike Reilly is probably headed back to Iowa, so the team can give Gustav Olofsson a look.
